Ben Wyvis Highland Whisky Distillery
Due to this distillery only being in production for 11 years this whisky is now strictly for collectors or those with very deep pockets. Ben Wyvis (also known as Ferintosh) was built in Dingwall in 1879, and was mainly to supply the blend giant Whyte & Mackay before closing in 1926. The previous building went for other commercial uses and in 1965 Invergordon Distillers Ltd opened a new Ben Wyvis at their grain whisky distillery. It was meant to supply malt whisky for blends but closed after just 11 years and has now been demolished. Very few bottlings were ever released and are highly sought by collectors.
Taste: The 27 year old cask strength Ben Wyvis is the least rare and was produced at full strength for the Japanese whisky consumer. It is so rare a taste review could not be found.
