News has recently reached us of three exciting new single malt whisky releases from the Glenfiddich Distillery. The first one is not so much new rather an extension of a travel retail exclusive which is now available to the retail market. “Glenfiddich Age of Discovery” finished in Madeira casks this 19 year old was introduced to honour the Portuguese explorers who in the 15th century made the first long voyages of discovery south to the African coast and beyond. We think this is a pretty decent enjoyable dram with a nutty /oaky flavour with hints of fruit.
Number two is “Glenfiddich 1974 Vintage Reserve”. This single malt was chosen by a panel of experts which included Jamie Milne and is a vatting instead of a single cask. A few other years were tried by the panel but 1974 came out on top. Matured in vintage casks this is a subtle malt of medium weight oaky again with spice and hints of honey.
Lastly we have “Glenfiddich 21 year old Gran Reserva” this dram has been on the market for a while but all the packaging has been revamped and upgraded. Out goes the traditional triangular bottle and tube and in comes a nice round bottle in a rectangular box making this a perfect gift for the malt whisky connoisseur. The contents however are still the same single malt whisky matured in re-fill and first fill bourbon casks and finished in Caribbean rum casks. Yum –Yum. It’s rich and sugary with plenty of polish.
All three of the above are now available from us today.
